Precision components require a very high degree of precision and repeatability in their manufacture and to manufacture precision components, advanced manufacturing equipment and techniques such as CNC machines and advanced measuring and inspection equipment are used. These parts often require tight tolerances, meaning they must meet exact requirements for measurements and dimensions.
It is important to maintain tolerances in the manufacture of precision components for several reasons. First, even small deviations from the tolerances can lead to malfunctions of the final device in which they are used. This can result in poor performance, poor quality and in some cases even dangerous situations.
In addition, the tolerances can affect the reliability and lifespan of the finished unit, as even small deviations can lead to unnecessary wear and damage to components over time.
