Chemical polishing is an effective treatment that is used when you want to smooth the surface of the aluminum.
Chemical polishing gives a glossy surface, which can give many types of items a luxurious look, because the surface becomes both more uniform and smooth. This can be combined with staining and glassblowing to produce a truly unique shiny but fractured surface that is comfortable to handle.
Chemical polishing is a treatment process in which the surface of the aluminum is smoothed during the treatment. This results in a medium gloss and shine on the subject.
As a treatment, chemical polishing does not produce a specular reflection, but rather a blurred reflection. This can work as an effective way to soften a sharp expression while still maintaining a nice shine with rich play of light and color on both flat objects, but also in more complex constructions or fabricated objects.
Chemical polishing does not remove scratches and stretch marks. It is therefore often necessary to combine chemical polishing with a mechanical treatment, such as e.g. glassblowing or grinding to highlight the structure of the metal.
Chemical polishing is a very aggressive process that smooths out the peaks in an aluminum structure. However, one should not expect that scratches, surface defects and damage will be eliminated by this treatment.
You can combine the treatment with sanding to change or improve a surface on e.g. a profile before chemical polishing. This allows for a great variety of surfaces, as all grinding methods can be combined with chemical polishing.
E7 | Chemical polishing | The process leaves a shiny surface. The process is suitable for items with complicated geometries. |
Blowing is an effective mechanical pre-treatment that is used when there are special requirements for the aluminum's structure or hardness. Blasting leaves a nice, uniform and matte surface at the same time, the treatment can to a certain extent remedy machining surfaces, grinding marks, tensile and heat streaks, which are visible on the raw material. This is due to changes in the material structure, which achieves the more uniform surface and with a matte appearance before further processing.
HAI offers several different blowing media with different roughness in the structure to give the uniform surface a broken structure.
We have different variants of blowing agents, where depending on the desired result, you can choose between; glass beads, precious corundum, stainless steel balls, stainless steel grit and mixed blasting agent.
We have a blowing agent that suits your needs regardless of the application or the physical characteristics of the component.
The treatment takes place in a closed cabin, where our operators blow fine grains of glass against the aluminum blanks. This achieves a uniform surface and a nice finish on the entire item.
Blowing is a pre-treatment process that can be equated with other mechanical pre-treatments such as grinding, brushing and polishing.
HAI can blow glass profiles up to 8 meters in a continuous plant and offers economically advantageous glass blowing in fully automatic plants.
