When the Danish astronaut Andreas Mogensen had to keep fit on the International Space Station, the Danish space bike was a faithful exercise partner. The space bike is anodized by HAI and has since been used by approx. 170 astronauts worldwide.
In the aerospace industry, surface treatment plays a decisive role in the production of spacecraft and satellites. Spacecraft are exposed to high levels of radiation and heat, and e.g. anodizing helps protect aluminum components from these harsh conditions.
Anodizing is also important in the production of solar panels used in space. Solar panels are made from an aluminum alloy that is anodized to increase their durability and protect them from environmental factors that can degrade their performance.
Additionally, anodizing is also used in the production of spacesuits and instrument panels. Spacesuits must be resistant to high temperatures and loads and must therefore be anodized to increase their durability and lifespan. Instrument panels in spacecraft and satellites also require anodizing to protect the electronics from corrosion and environmental influences.
