First hospital

Is it possible to design a hospital where you feel at home?

That was the goal of Nyréns Arkitektkontor when they won the competition to design a new Ersta hospital in central Stockholm. This is a far cry from the white, sterile appearance traditionally associated with a hospital building.

The facade is made of an aluminum cladding anodized at HAI® in a warm copper colour, which ensured the architect's desire for a brown tone that interacts with the yellow and brown facades of the neighboring houses. The interaction between the verticality of the large glass sections and the horizontal orientation of the aluminum gives the facade a classic, timeless expression.

The beautiful outdoor environments conceived as part of the architecture, healthy daylight sensations, the choice of colors and materials all contribute to creating the best conditions for human healing.
