Manual burnishing/grinding
Blanks are burnished or ground manually using a bench polisher.
Advantages/Disadvantages:
- Burnishing/grinding possible on arched surfaces
- Economically advantageous for smaller quantities
Application:
- Decorative items
- Mechanical components
Effect on scratches and minor flaws in the surface:
- Gives smooth surfaces
- When grinding prior to burnishing scratches and minor flaws can be masked
Structure and appearance after treatment:
- High finish and very lustrous
Suitable alloys:
- All of the alloys of aluminium
- Stainless steel alloys
