Colouring
Choice of colouring
Aluminium is attractive, decorative and environmentally-friendly, but after anodisation aluminium is neutral in terms of colour.
At HAI Horsens we can colour the aluminium product after anodisation. The choice of colour and lustre depends on where the product is to be used. Therefore a distinction is made between outdoor and indoor colours.
HAI Horsens has one of Northern Europe’s widest ranges of colourings and can produce new varieties upon request.
The colouring process
Colouring takes place by an electrolytic immersion process where colorants or metal salts are incorporated into the surface so that the aluminium product achieves optimum light and colour fastness and corrosion resistance.
Outdoors colouring
Today anodised aluminium is used increasingly often for architectural applications.
Buildings are often constructed in aluminium, which is perfect for this application. For example, if the facades of the buildings are to be in naturally anodised or coloured aluminium, since the metal is light, minimal maintenance will be required and it will fit into the majority of environments.
Indoor colouring
In recent years aluminium has become a very widely-used material for everyday applications. For both indoor architecture and for more decorative applications.

Stainless Steel Look
The latest outdoor colour to be offered by HAI Horsens is a light grey colour that has an appearance of a “stainless steel look” in combination with chemical burnishing.
From January 2009 colouring will be offered in both 3.5 and 8 metre processing baths.
Quality Control
The colours undergo constant quality controls, which ensure uniform colouring and high quality. However, we would like to point out that differences in colour can occur according to whether it is cast blanks, sheet and profiles that are coloured.
