Chromatings/ Passivations
The chromating process
The chemical surface treatment/conversion covering is also known as chromating in everyday speech when it contains chrome as a corrosion protective substance.
With chromating, i.e. the application of a layer of chrome, an increased corrosion resistance in relation to raw aluminium is achieved.

Trademarks
Chromating is often denoted as the manufacturer-specific trademarks.
Example of manufacturer trademarks:
- Iridite (USA)
- Aludine (Europe)
These are not expressions of a process, but rather a brand, this is why HAI Horsens instead uses the common designation “chromating”.
